Prince Harry news: Duke speaks of ‘fond memories’ and introduces special show with Queen | Royal | News

Prince Harry marked the 75th anniversary of British animation series Thomas & Friends by taking part in a brief introductory video to a very special episode. In the short clip, Harry, holding a book reading on its front cover ‘Thomas & Friends: The Royal Engine’, says: “This year, Thomas & Friends, is celebrating 75 years of friendship and teamwork.

This animated version of the heir apparent sees the Prince of Wales holding a toy train and wearing a suit and a hat with a ‘C’ on its front.

This brief clip was shot in January, the month Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their intention to step back as senior royals.

It is not clear whether the Duke of Sussex is at Frogmore Cottage, the home he was staying with the Duchess and Archie in Canada or a set.

In his on-camera introduction, the Duke of Sussex appears relaxed as he sits in a comfortable armchair.

The homely room where he is filming the introduction also features a chimney, a little side table with children’s books piled on it and a mirror.

Speaking about the chance of taking part in this special episode, Prince Harry said: “Thomas the Tank Engine has been a comforting, familiar face to so many families over the last 75 years – entertaining, educating and inspiring children on important issues through exciting stories and characters.

“I certainly have fond memories of growing up with Thomas & Friends and being transported to new places through his adventures. I am very proud to have been asked to take part in this special episode.

“I wish Thomas & Friends a very happy anniversary.”

News of this episode, to air first in the US on May 1 and in the rest of the world on May 2, comes one day after the official launch of a project close to Harry’s heart.

The Duke of Sussex announced yesterday the launch of HeadFit, a platform helping military personnel take care of their mental wellbeing.

Prince Harry started working on this project in October 2017, and throughout the months he has received the support of the Ministry of Defence.

HeadFit was also developed with the help of King’s College London, the clinical advice of Dr Vanella Moulton and Heads Together, a campaign launched by Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Prince Harry in May 2016 to end the stigma surrounding mental health.

Prince Harry officially stepped down as senior royal alongside Meghan on March 31.

A few days earlier, the family-of-three relocated from British Columbia to Los Angeles.

Ever since their move, they have been spotted outside a few times while delivering food parcels to the most vulnerable.
